The first time I went to bible study at our friend’s house, we sat down in their over sized leather couch and my eyes widened, “Where did you get this couch?!” “The Dump!” They didnt mean the actual dump, but the store that is unfortunately called, The Dump.
When it came time to address our empty living room, I knew I wanted to look there first for furnature. But before furniture, what would we do with this room?
The room is still “in progress.” Some things we need to address are the blank walls and the discoloration on the paint from the previous owner’s pictures. We chose to keep the paint color because it really worked with what we already have and the look we wanted to go for – beachy and comfy. After removing the wallpaper in the entryway, we painted those walls another lighter neutral and we were ready to go look for a couch. Our first stop was a liquidation sale – yuck. All of the couches were green or red. Then we tried Lay-Z-Boy. They had a ton of great couches, but our favorites were WAY out of our price range – plus we had no idea what the colors would look like against our walls. So, before we went again, I painted a piece of cardboard with the extra paint the previous owners left us and we headed out to The Dump. It is seriously the largest wearhouse I’ve ever seen full of amazingly priced furniture. And that is where we found the cutest couch EVER. Haha..
So, we added a couch and an oversized chair to make our living room actually livable. It’s the best place to sit and read or just talk with friends.
I still feel like the room is in progress, but it’s so nice to at least have a place to sit!
