I’ve been doing Marriage Monday for little while now and I’ve loved it. I’ve received really sweet feedback from people and have loved sharing the ins and outs of my perspective. I’m a 2.5 year wife of a man I’ve known for for a little over 6 years! CRAZY! I know I haven’t exhausted my supply of things to say about marriage, dating, boys, etc, but I’d love to have YOU, dear reader, chime in a little.
Do you have something to say about all this?
Want me to talk about something I haven’t?
Any stories you’d like to hear?
That being said, do have a little story to tell 🙂
Since attending Walk Through A Wedding, I’ve really been thinking about my “WHY.” Why do I do what I do? I made this statement a few times during discussions and thinking processes: If people looked at their wedding albums more, I wonder if we’d have such a high divorce rate? I know there is more to marriage than a photo, but I do believe that photos are here to help us remember! Whether it be a moment, a feeling, a promise, a love…
Anyway, yesterday at church, the pastor was talking about God an how sometimes when God gets mad at us for going off and worshiping something else [like body image, food, entertainment, money…] it is a lot like committing adultry. So, God is like our “husband” and we are the “bride” who is going elsewhere for [fill in the blank]. The text was Jeremiah 2. God basically says, “I remember when you ______, what changed?!” And the pastor said, “It’s as if God is looking at their wedding album…”
And then I silently praised God for the security I find in Him, for the love He has shown, and I promised Him that I would remember all this stuff. But I was also really thankful for those specific words. The Wedding Album Effect is could be really powerful in our marriages and I like to think that God and I agree.
