What a whirlwind it’s been since I announced our move. I’ve felt like Mrs. Hughes in Downton Abby – making sure this house was in tip-top shape for photos and listing. A friend who also had her house on the market said it best, “It’s hard to live in perfection!” Amen. But I have to admit, this is not a blog post I thought I’d be writing at this point! Not only because I can’t believe we accomplished everything on our list before we put our house for sale, but I thought I’d for sure we’d be living in this house until we out grew it. I also thought if we sold for some reason, it would be a long way down the road! I never imagined that we’d be picking up in Richmond and putting down in Williamsburg. But it’s happening!
While I was shooting my last wedding of the year, our house was officially listed. The FOR SALE sign in our yard hit me hard when I came around the corner into our culdesac. We weren’t just deep cleaning our house for our enjoyment, but we were selling it.
As we’ve learned, selling a house is pretty crazy! You never know what’s going to happen, and houses sell randomly when you least expect it! We had 5 showings and accepted an offer on Christmas Day! We thought it would sell quickly because all of the other houses in our neighborhood do, but as everyone told us: it is not the ideal time to be selling a house! Plus, you really can’t predict the future. Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised and feel grateful for this quick transaction – especially with so much on the horizon! Obviously there are still loose ends, so we’re continuing to pray for a great inspection and simple closing. But y’all! We’re that much closer to our new home!
