If you think photographing weddings is nerve wracking, let’s talk about photographing proposals! My heart was beating so fast as soon as I caught a glimpse of these two! But, back up a few months. I got an email from Carlton who had plans to propose at Salamander, one of my favorite venues in Virginia! It’s such a luxurious resort, and I knew that even in the bareness of December, it would be the most beautiful spot to propose! He chose the culinary garden, which ended up being very private! We planned it down to every detail. Their walking path. Where he’d stand. Where I’d be hiding… and then the day came!

SHE KNOWS NOW!!

Right after she said YES! She looked at that ring for so long… it was perfect!

Although I was sure she’d seen me from the beginning, this was when he told her she was being photographed. I loved the surprise! I took about 2 minutes of portraits and sent them on their way to make their phone calls. It was the best way to start my day [and their’s too!!]!
