If you’re reading this and live on the East Coast, you know that this past weekend, we had a weekend of crazy weather. It was a “perfect storm,” as my dad called it. Wind and rains from the southern hurricane, and another storm coming in from the northwest left us with a WASHOUT of a day. There was no plan B. The rain plan was the only plan for Jenn and Andrew’s winery wedding. But the details were gorgeous, and we were even able to shoot outside for a bit! What a blessing! I was so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of their wedding. I was, using the same word, BLESSED by being there. Right after I photographed the details of the reception, there was a little flicker, and then we had NO POWER. We fumbled around for a few minutes to get our bearings on how this night would have to go. I would be fine because there was the tiniest bit of ambient light to help my camera focus and with external flash and extra batteries, I could light that place up! But the band, the caterer, and the bathrooms were a little stuck. The band quickly problem solved and pulled out their acoustic instruments. HUGE props to them for keeping the night going.

This night proved to be a real life Colonial Williamsburg wedding! It was intimate, warm, and cozy. The speeches, cake cutting, and the first dance were lit by the light of… OUR IPHONES.

And with 15 minutes to go, the lights came back on. Thumbs up from Andrew.
