I am the girl who starts the effort of going to the gym on the first of the month. I start a new piece of paper if I mess up on my grocery list. And I need a clean house before I leave for vacation so that when I come home.
I LOVE FRESH STARTS
So, it should come as no surprise that I love the first month of a new year of a new decade. It is a great time to set all kinds of goals. Make all kinds of lifestyle changes. Plan all of the vacations, and do all kinds of forward thinking. But OH the pressure! If you look forward to the new beginnings, but also feel overwhelming pressure to perform, I am right there with you! I’m taking this attitude into 2020 and relying on this truth to encourage me as I jot down a few things I’d like to accomplish.
BUSINESS
Celebrate my couple’s anniversaries! I plan to look back at my weddings and honor marriage more by acknowledging my couple’s anniversaries on instagram. It’s going to be fun since I have nearly 10 years of weddings to celebrate!
Shoot 10-12 weddings. I still have open dates, but I plan to close my calendar at 12 weddings for 2020. I’d like to tighten up my workflow with weddings to better serve my clients and make their experience even better than it has been.
Newsletter. Which might be how you got here… But I did start a newsletter as of Jan 2020! I’m excited for a new way to connect with my friends and followers and share current happenings, sales, discounts, and content with you. If you’re interested in signing up, you can do so here! I’ll send out one per month so it’s not overwhelming but will be packed with SO many fun things!
Connect with the local wedding industry. I’ve been in Hampton Roads for almost 4 years, but have yet to really make an effort to connect with my fellow Williamsburg and coastal Virginia wedding friends! I miss having industry friends who really understand small business ownership and the wedding industry!
One business growth endeavor. I have no intention of growing my business BIGGER, but I’m very interested in BETTER. I’m not sure if this looks like attending a workshop, investing in education, reading a business book, or subscribing to a podcast… but I want to challenge my static tendencies with new thoughts and challenges.
CELEBRATE 10 YEARS! Basically, I plan to do a crazy good giveaway this year. Get ready for July!
PERSONAL
Blog 1-2 personal posts per month. I started our personal blog a few years ago, but keep things pretty quiet over there most of the time. I love blogging about our travels, but I’d like to start writing a little more about our journey with infertility and also more hometown things to encourage us to get out and explore Williamsburg.
Feed and move my body. I’m going to try to just change my habits of boredom snacking and overeating. Rather than jump into it with food elimination and strict rules, I plan to focus on what is good for me and do that. I also plan to take the advice of Brighton Keller [my favorite blogger] and walk for [at least] 30 min everyday. I plan to work with weights and more HIIT style workouts about 3 times a week.
Bachelor Nights. One of my best friends moved to New Kent over a year ago and I’ve been lazy about attending her weekly girls hang out. But I miss the fellowship and girl talk so much! So, this year I’m making it a priority, as silly as that sounds.
Get better at the things I do for fun. This would be stand up paddleboarding and playing the guitar. I’m capable at the first, and poor at the second, but I love both and would love to be better!
Study the book of Psalms. Starting the year fresh with a commitment to read through and absorb the Pslams. This is a place where you can really see how people experienced and related to God with their emotions. I’m excited to see how God uses this to draw us closer!
