It hadn’t been but a few weeks since United 2014 and my mind was wondering how we were going to get the same group of girls together. I know you can’t duplicate experiences, but I felt like this wasn’t the end. At United, we had late night talks, meals together, laughter… but it was in the environment of a conference. Some girls had to speak, and we all were in work mode, feeling like we had to get our money’s worth by attending talks and such. But God used the time we had to bring us together for His glory.
So my wheels started turning – why not eliminate the conference and have a vacation? For the first time, I didn’t think the common chord should be photography. With no speaking engagements, no required sessions, and no skirting around our faith because this is business, we’d be able to have intentional and restful time together. And so that’s what we planned. A reunion. A retreat. A vacation. Whatever you want to call it, it was just some friends who decided to come together and do friend things.
“Is it what you thought it would be?” Someone asked me this toward the end of the trip. The truth is I had no expectations except that I wanted it to be for the GOOD of everyone. I wanted God to be at the center – not photography. I wanted to feel freedom to experience friendship and to vacate from our todo list. I wanted to give this trip to the Lord to do what He wanted. I believe that He did!

cannot thank you ENOUGH for coordinating so much of this trip. i’m so grateful God laid the idea on your heart, and this sweet week with all of you was everything i could have hoped it would be, and more. so grateful & blessed by this fun experience, but also your friendship in general and how God has used it so many times to enrich and encourage my life over this past year! <3
