FEEL SAFE! NO PHOTOS OF MY FEET…
For the next few days, I’ll be laid up on a couch, foot elevated and iced, watching various movies and “scooching” around the house for food and bathroom breaks workouts. Why? Well, yesterday was a big day. I mentioned in a blog post last year that I’d been having serious foot pain. Sesamoiditis, to be exact.
For those curious, you have two pea shaped bones where your big toe bends on the ball of your foot. When either of those two bones are broken, cracked, chipped… it hurts to bend that toe because of the tendons and other “stuff” that becomes irritated around it.
Well, that’s what happened to me! For a year and a half, I’ve been treating my sesamoid with shots and shoes and rest, but the time came to actually DO something about it. Yesterday I woke up after an evening of fasting, bushed my teeth and headed in for surgery! I’m praying for a full recovery, weather it’s fast or not. I just don’t want my foot to hurt anymore.
Fear # 1. The doctor would get in there and find that there wasn’t actualy anything wrong.
Praise # 1. There WAS something wrong. Upon waking up, he told me that the bone was actually cracked!
Fear # 2. The chance I’d have to have the entire bone removed, which would cause more issues down the road.
Praise # 2. He was able to clean up the bone and keep it! This made me have a longer, more in depth surgery, and in turn, a longer recovery, but the goal is for it to heal with minimal if any side effects.
Fear # 3. Nausea from anesthesia.
Praise # 3. I woke up craving chinese food.
So, I have a ton to be thankful for. My foot hasn’t started really hurting yet, but thank you for all of y’all who have prayed! And thank you for those who have listened to me tell this story. It’s been a big “small” problem and I’m so thankful to have it taken care of! AND excited to have no pain for my 2014 weddings!
Meanwhile, a photo – my sweet friend made the BEST red beans and rice last night! She used this recipe if you want to try it, using keilbasa sausage.
