Let’s put it this way. I am NOT competitive. I mean, I just don’t really care about winning or beating people. I don’t size myself up next to people very often, and when I do, it’s a really weird feeling and I feel wrong for doing it. But you know what? It’s a good thing I’m not competitive because I loose at most of the stuff I compete in. No, don’t feel sorry for me – I don’t feel sorry for myself. I’m actually the best person to have in last place because I really don’t take it poorly!
But, loosing wasn’t always the case. When I was a little girl, I competed almost every weekend. I was actually pretty good at what I did. I rode horses. One of my most memorable victories was a Pairs Class at one of the most unique and classy horse shows in Virginia: Upperville. Percentage wise, this is how much pairs meant in the scheme of the horse world: 0%. This is how much pairs class meant to Diana, my coach, and I: 100%.
It was a class we KNEW we could win. Picture this. Two small perfectly white ponies. Two little girls in brick britches. We practiced for weeks on our turns and riding at the same gate and speed. And we nailed it. Cheers, Diana! We made a great team!

It’s one of my most memorable victories, too! Mostly because I got to share it with my best friend 🙂
