Virginia Beach portrait and lifestyle photographer specializing in comfortable portraits and candids
Jen landed in Virginia when I was in middle school. She learned how to ride horses in Belgium and had moved from Florida to our barn – she was quiet and loved the color green. We went to proms and homecomings together, finding each other dates whether we knew the guys or not, just so we could hang out. We rode horses together and we both ended up with grey mares. Jen and I both grew our hair out LONG. Her friends became my friends and visa versa. We were pretty inseparable.
We grew up and apart, but only by distance. She graduated from Virginia Tech and was working in Wilmington when she told me she had met a guy at a training class in Charleston. I just decided she should marry him because of that alone [you know how I love Charleston]. Jen and I have had our many conversations about love, but this seemed different. Mature. Real. All I knew about Tom was that he was a guy who loved the outdoors, fly fishing, Orvis, and cheese [he is from Minnesota, after all]. Having spent some time with both of them together, they have what I want to call an “under the table” connection. They look at each other and smile and the two of them know something no one else does. I like to imagine it’s the fact that they are in love. That whatever is happening in the room at the moment isn’t as important as that fact. And I know all that seems mushy, but you should see it!
Anyway, after months and months of dating long distance, they ARE getting married. Tom proposed with the most beautiful ring, and I’m so excited for their wedding! We had a chilly engagement shoot our at The Winery at Bull Run!
