When people come to JMU’s campus, either as a prospective student or to visit for other reasons, their main take-away is that people are just so friendly. They hold doors. They smile at you. And while my grandparents waited for me on campus, they had a student randomly buy them coffee. People are just nice! It is like this huge family that spans over 100 years.
Madison Magazine helps the feeling of camaraderie. It connects all levels of students – past, present, and future. There are stories about what’s going on at JMU presently, what changes are in the future, notes and advice for prospective students, and of course, who is getting married and having babies. But most importantly, who is getting married – ha!
When a JMU student gets married, they typically rent Road Dawg, a replica of the Duke Dog statue who travels around to weddings, mainly for a photo-op. Jordan and Sam had the largest turnout of JMU students at their wedding I’ve ever seen, and their photo made it into the Magazine to celebrate Road Dawg’s birthday! YAY!
